Conduit

Conduit aims to sterilize vegetables to extend their shelf life and make them safe for immediate consumption.

We recommend that the product first be treated by a Helix Air or a Helix Vibe, as shown in the picture, to rid the product of debris. The product is then elevated by an incline conveyor and dropped into the Conduit. The product circulates through 70 meters (230 feet) of pipeline, where it can be treated with ozone and/or cold water, significantly increasing product shelf life and safety.

Under standard settings, most products take 5 minutes to travel the whole length of the Conduit. Water flow can be adjusted to increase or decrease treatment time. If extra treatment time is desired, the Conduit can be extended to suit your specific product needs.

Finally, the product is deposited onto a vibrating conveyor where excess water is shaken off. This water is filtered, stored in a reservoir and pumped back into the Conduit's main piping system for reuse.

Ozone Generator

Where food safety and shelf life are paramount, we recommend using COLEAD's Ozone Generator with our systems. Ozone is the most powerful oxidizer available. Studies have shown that it is 3,000 times more germicidal than chlorine, killing pathogens instantly, yet it requires no chemical storage and leaves no harmful chemical residue.

Water Chiller

COLEAD's Water Chiller is an ideal complement that can be ordered with, or retrofitted onto, our Helix line of washers.

The chiller lowers the water temperature to about 5 °C (41 °F), slowing down microbial metabolic rates and preventing them from reproducing. While cold water treatment does not sterilize, it renders many microbes dormant, effectively increasing product shelf life. COLEAD Water Chillers are adjustable and have multiple refrigeration circuits to ensure nonstop operation even during maintenance and repair. Built with U.S. Copeland hermetic scroll compressors and motors, it is the ideal complement for COLEAD washers.
